玉溪地处滇中腹地，因碧玉清溪而得名，素有生命起源地、云烟之乡、花灯之乡、聂耳故乡、高原水乡“一地四乡”的美誉，是国家卫生城市、国家园林城市、中国十佳休闲生态宜居城市。

Located in the central part of Yunnan Province, Yuxi derives its name from crystal-clear waters. Known as the Cradle of Life, the Home of Yunnan tobacco, the Origin of Huadeng Opera, the Hometown of Nie Er, and a Charming Watertown on the Plateau, it has earned distinguished titles including National Sanitary City, National Garden City and one of China’s Top 10 Leisure, Ecological & Livable Cities.

玉溪区位好，市区距昆明88公里，是距省会最近的州（市），泛亚铁路东线、中线和昆曼、昆河国际大通道在此交汇，是“一带一路”建设的重要节点和云南建设面向南亚东南亚辐射中心的重要枢纽，是境内中老铁路沿线站点最多的州（市），被列入国家现代流通战略支点城市、生产服务型国家物流枢纽承载城市和中欧班列节点城市。

Yuxi boasts an advantageous location, 88km from Kunming, making Yuxi the nearest prefecture-level city to the provincial capital. The Eastern and Middle Routes of the Pan-Asia Railway, plus the Kunming-Bangkok and Kunming-Hanoi international corridors, converge here. As a key node of the Belt and Road Initiative and a core hub for Yunnan’s South and Southeast Asia-focused radiation center construction, Yuxi has the most stations on the domestic stretch of the China-Laos Railway. It is also listed as a national modern circulation strategic pivot city, a national production-service-oriented logistics hub carrier city and a China-Europe freight train node city.

Endowed with abundant natural resources and cultural heritage, Yuxi boasts remarkable treasures. Among them, the Cambrian Fossil Biota at Maotian Mountain in Chengjiang is the only fossil-based world natural heritage in Asia.

玉溪底蕴好，走出了国歌的曲作者聂耳、“云南白药”创始人曲焕章、郑码发明人郑易里等诸多名人名家，多民族在砥砺奋进中形成了开放包容、勇于创新的“玉溪基因”。

Steeped in a profound cultural heritage, Yuxi has nurtured a galaxy of distinguished figures such as Nie Er, the composer of China’s national anthem, Qu Huanzhang, the founder of Yunnan Baiyao, and Zheng Yili, the inventor of the Zhengma Input Method. Through the joint efforts of its multi-ethnic communities, Yuxi has forged its open, inclusive and innovative “Yuxi DNA” .

玉溪生态好，大部分地区海拔1500—1800米，年平均气温16.4—24.6℃，气候立体多样，是花卉、蔬菜最适宜种植区。拥有抚仙湖、星云湖、杞麓湖三大高原湖泊。

Yuxi enjoys excellent ecology. Most areas of the city lie between 1,500 and 1,800 meters above sea level, with an annual average temperature of 16.4—24.6℃. Its varied vertical climate makes it a perfect place for cultivating flowers and vegetables. It also embraces three well-known plateau lakes——Fuxian Lake, Xingyun Lake and Qilu Lake.

玉溪基础好，从农业到外贸、从能源到制造、从流通到服务，产业门类日趋丰富，产业体系较为完备，全国41个工业大类中玉溪有30个，工业化率持续保持全省第一，是云南唯一整市推进的国家农业绿色发展先行区。新能源电池、生物医药及大健康、数字经济、现代物流等产业不断发展壮大，产业结构持续优化。

Yuxi has a solid development foundation. Covering sectors from agriculture to foreign trade, energy to manufacturing, and circulation to services, it has a growingly rich industrial portfolio and a complete industrial system. With 30 of China’s 41 major industrial categories under its belt, Yuxi has long held the top industrialization rate in Yunnan. It is also a sole prefecture-level city in Yunnan to be fully designated as a national pilot zone for green agricultural development. Emerging sectors including new energy batteries, biomedicine and health, digital economy, and modern logistics are booming here as well, leading to steady optimization of Yuxi’s industrial structure.
