Yunnan province hands over solar-powered street lights to the Maldives.

The Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries recently handed over solar-powered street lights and road-cleaning vehicles to the Maldives.

The 170 sets of solar street lamps were installed on Maafushi Manta Island in response to the Maldivian government's pursuit in clean energy, allowing some 8,000 local residents and tourists to have greener activities at night.

The cleaning vehicles will be used in the southernmost Laamu atoll in the Maldives, in a bid to improve local environmental protection and living conditions.

Since 2022, the Yunnan association has implemented six "hand in hand" projects in the Maldives, covering infrastructure, environment, education and others.
