On 15 August 2026, the Government of West Bengal held a grand celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day at the Red Road in Kolkata. The event featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, a military parade, colorful tableaux, and cultural performances. Consul General Xu Wei was invited to attend the ceremony. During the event, Consul General Xu had a cordial exchange with Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendhu Adhikary. That evening, at the invitation of Hon’ble Governor Shri R. N. Ravi, Consul General Xu attended the Independence Day reception hosted at Lok Bhavan.
