Chinese Embassy in Pakistan Holds Symposium Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Comrade Jiang Zemin

On August 17th , the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan held a symposium commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Comrade Jiang Zemin. Shi Yuanqiang, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Embassy and Pakistani guests, including Zafar Uddin Mahmood, Special Representative to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on China Affairs, Akram Sheikh, former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, and former Pakistani Ambassadors to China, attended the event and delivered speeches. Representatives from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, think tanks, and the overseas Chinese community also attended the symposium.

Shi Yuanqiang stated that President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the grand gathering to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Comrade Jiang Zemin. President Xi highly commended the immortal contributions Comrade Jiang Zemin made to the Communist Party of China and the people, and called on all to deeply learn from his noble demeanour and continue to advance the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Shi Yuanqiang emphasized that Comrade Jiang Zemin always cared about China-Pakistan relations and devoted himself to developing the relations. China stands ready to work with Pakistan to write a new chapter in the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Pakistani participants remarked that Comrade Jiang Zemin was an outstanding leader of China who made remarkable contributions to China’s reform and opening-up as well as modernization. He was also an important promoter of Pakistan-China relations. The Pakistani side expressed its readiness to work with the Chinese side to jointly create a better future for bilateral relations.
